Ladies' Aid
     Since June of 1903 the Ladies Aid of St. Michael's Lutheran Church has been meeting regularly.  Each month they meet for Bible study, fellowship and to conduct their meeting.  The ladies are instrumental in planning dinners and carrying out various projects and activities around the church.
    Meeting Minutes - September 5, 2013
  •   The St. Michael's Ladies Aid met September 5 at 1:30pm after a 2 month break over summer.  Pastor Conradt's devotional topic was "The Hidden Treasure".  The Secretary and Treasurers Reports were given.  They were discussed and accepted.  A report was given of the greeting cards that were sent out in June, July and August.

    The international convention of the Lutheran Womens Missionary Society, which was held the last week of June at the LaCrosse Center in LaCrosse, WI, was a huge success.  All who were privileged to attend really enjoyed it.

    Our mission selections are as follows:  for August - $50.00 for the Jesus Cares Ministries and for September - $50 for Christian Family Solutions.  Pastor John Mattek from the Christian Family Solutions is going to be the guest minister for our Mission Festival.

    Our hostess for this months meeting was Rosalie Conrad.

    The following report was given for the Lutheran Women's Mission Society:

    The 50th convention of the LWMS is now a thing of the past.  It was a very exhilerating experience.  Here are some notes from the convention:
         1.  1759 registered attendees from 58 WELS circuits were in attendence (the highest in the 50 year history).
         2.  Opening Service was attended by 2756.
         3.  448 were first time attendees.
         4.  Kids care offerings were $53,284.22.
         5.  Mission offerings were $75,221.36.
         6.  Offerings from the Worship Services were $75,221.36.

    There were multiple displays representing the mission fields.  St. Michael's put up the display for Nigeria.

    The talks from the missionaries is always a favorite of attendees as well as the banquet and entertainment.

    The LWMS Fall Rally will be held at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Chaseburg, WI on Saturday, October 19, 2013.  The speaker will be Maria Reese who is originally from Goodhue, MN.  Maria has recently returned from working at CAMM which is the African Medical Mission.

  • Special Report
    The LWMS Spring Rally was held in LaCrosse, WI at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church on Saturday, April 13.  This years spring rally attendence was 132.

    The business meeting was conducted.  A skit was given by the Spiritual Growth Committee.

    Elfa Kochenderfer's name was name was submitted for a memorial.  The LWMS will send $25 to missions in her name.

    Ballots were filled out and counted for the new officers of the LWMS Winona Circuit.  The new officers were installed.

    There was no speaker so the meeting was shortened. 

    The various committees met to work on planning the National LWMS Conventions which will be held June 27 - 30 at the LaCrosse Center.  There is much to do and many hands will help make the job much easier.

    All attendees were treated to a salad luncheon.

    Meeting Minutes - April 4, 2013
  • April's meeting of the St. Michael's Ladies Aid was held on April 4, 2013 at 1:30 pm.  There were 9 members present plus one guest.  The devotion topic was: "The Mustard Seed".

    The secretary's and treasurer's reports were given.

    Doris Doebbert is the only person of the aid whose birthday is in April.

    The LWMS (Lutheran Womens Missionary Society) spring rally will be Saturday, April 13 at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in LaCrosse, WI.  We distributed ballots for candidates for the National LWMS Convention.  These ballots will be counted and the winners will be announced at the National Convention.

    The April mission offering of $50 will go to the Fountain City First Responders.

    The next meeting of the St. Michael's Ladies Aid will be held at St. Michael's Lutheran Assisted Living Home.

    This meetings hostesses  were Marjean Conradt and Arleen Burmeister.

    Meeting Minutes - March 7, 2013
  • The Ladies Aid held their March meeting on March 7, 2013 at 1:30 pm with 9 members present.  The meeting began with the singing of hymn 106.  The topic of Pastor Conradt's devotion was "The Growing Seed".

    The secretary and treasurer reports were given and accepted.  A report on greeting cards that were sent out was given.

    Rosalie Conrad was our only March birthay which is March 13.

    The L.W.M.S. spring rally will be held at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in LaCrosse, WI on Saturday, April 13, 2013.  There is an information sheet on the bulletin board in the lobby of the church.

    The International Convention will be held at the LaCrosse Center on June 27 - 30, 2013.  This convention will be hosted by the Winona Circuit of which St. Michael's is a member.  The committee requests the help of all of the churches in the Winona Circuit to help get ready for the convention.  The reporter read the most recent letter from the CAMM ( Central Africa Medical Mission) which was very interesting.

    All of the ladies signed an Easter card that will be sent to our mission student.

    Our March mission offering of $50 will be sent to Luther High School general fund and will be matched by the Good Steward organization.

    There is a sign-up sheet in the fellowship room for Easter lilies.  The price of the lilies will again be $13.95.

    The meeting was adjorned and all enjoyed refreshments.

    Meeting Minutes - February 7, 2013
  • The February meeting of the Ladies Aid was held on February 7, 2013.  The meeting opened with the singing of hymn 111, Sweet the Moments, Rich in Blessing.  The topic of Pastors devotion was "The Weeds".

    The business meeting was called to order by President Judy Putz.  There were 8 members present.

    The secritary read the minutes of the last meeting and the correspondences.

    The treasurer's report was given by our new treasurer, Arleen Burmeister.  We thank her for taking the new position and also gave a big thank-you to Rosalie Conrad who heald the office for many years.

    We are replacing a 30 cup coffee pot for the kitchen. 

    One get-well care, one sympathy card and three birthday cards were send out last month.

    The Lutheran Woman's Mission Society reporter, Norma Isakson gave information on up-coming events of the LWMS.  We are paying the church membership fee of $75.  Applications were handed out for the National Convention to be held in LaCrosse, WI at the LaCrosse Center, on June 27-30, 2913.  We encourage members of the congregation to attend this convention as it may never be closer for us to attend.  The conventions are very uplifting and memorable.

    We voted for our $50 February mission offering to go to the Fountain City Beautification Program.

    Our lunch hosts were Bernita Schultz and Norma Isakson.

    Meeting Minutes - January 3, 2013
  • The first meeting of the year for the Ladies Aid was held at 1:30 on January 3, 2013.  Seven members were present.

    The topic of discussion was "The Sower".  The Secretary and Treasurers reports were given and bills were presented.  The correspondences were read.

    The Sunshine report stated the sending of Christmas, sympathy and birthday cards for the month of December.

    The LWMS reporter had a report on the Christmas card and gift for our mission student and his reply.  Also read was the December letter from the Lutheran Mobile Clinic in Malawi.

    A motion was made and passed that we replace the 30 cup coffee pot.

    We had elections for the treasurer and vice-president/secretary positions.  Marlene Klebig was re-elected and installed as our vice-president/secretary and Arleen Burmeister was elected and installed as treasurer.  We thank Rosalie Conrad for her many years as treasurer.

    The recipient of our January mission offering is TILM.

    The meeting was adjourned and the next meeting will be February 7, 2013.

    December Outing - 2012
  • St. Michael's Ladies Aid had their meeting-Christmas Party on December 6.  The meeting was held at Timbers Restaurant in Winona. 

    Pastor's devotion was on the 12 days of Christmas.  The Secretary and Treasurers Reports were given.  The Sunshine report was given and it was noted that several cards were sent out in November and that Christmas cards were sent to members at the home.  In the LWMS report a newsletter from the Medical Mission was read.   The treasurer will send out Christmas gifts from the Ladies Aid.

    The Ladies Aid always takes a collection for the Buffalo Lutheran School Association at the Christmas Party.  In addition to the collection we also designated Buffalo Lutheran School Association as our December Mission with a gift of $50.00.

    Our December Birthdays are Pastor Conradt and Bernita Schultz.

    Meeting Minutes - November 1, 2012
  • St. Michael's Ladies Aid held their November meeting on Thursday, November 1 at 1:00 pm.  Vice President, Marlene Klebig, presided over the meeting in the absence of Judy Putz.

    The topic of discussion was "The Two Debtors".

    The Secretary and Treasurers reports were given and approved.  Correspondence was read.  Only two greeting cards were sent out last month,  one birthday card and one wedding card.  A LWMS report was given on the fall rally which was held in Caledonia, MN.  We received our missionary student assignment for this next year.

    St. Michael's is one of the churches providing treats for the Area Reformation Service that was held at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Winona.  We are to provide 4 pans of bars and 2 helpers for the social time after the service.

    Our mission donation for this month is to Christian Aid and Relief and is earmarked for Hurricane Sandy.

    Delicious refreshments were served by hostesses Rhoda Engstrand and Joyce Sing.

    Meeting Minutes - October 4, 2012
  • The October Ladies Aid Meeting was held October 4 with 9 members present.  The topic for discussion was "The House Built on The Rock."  The secretary and treasurer reports were given and accepted.  The Sunshine report was given.

    Marlene Klebig's birthday is October 23 and is the only member who is celebrating a birthday in the month of October.

    The report for the fall rally of the Lutheran Women's Missionary Society was given.  This years fall rally will be held on October 20 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Caledonia, MN.  Articles about the LWMS Convention were read and also a newsletter from the Central African Medical Mission.

    The Octorber mission offering of $50 will go to the Fountain City Fire Department.

    Molly Klebig was the hostess for our October meeting.  Hostesses for the November meeting will be Rhoda Engstrand and Joyce Sing.
